The FSTP training was originally designed to provide trainees with the basic foundation skills needed to strife in the oil and gas sector.while the idea is very noble,we eagerly anticipated its commencement,with most of the trainees being university graduates,we where expecting industry based training and case studies.
we were surprised to find out the training was more of classroom work and predominantly first year courses,it was reminiscent of school days while we tried to adapt to the regimented life style.over the weeks however,attention has shifted from learning to passing the periodic assessments which has tended to make trainees focus on exams rather than “learning”
i feel the curriculum should be reviewed so that the benefits of the training are optimized
